A rich history can only beget a bright future. This year’s annual staff conference was a time of reflection and a moment of sharing the vision of the organisation with the sole intent of achieving even greater success in spite of the challenges and limitations that may be faced.

Reflecting on the history of Law Reporting in Kenya, Ag. CEO/ Editor, Mr. Long’et Terer noted that the path Kenya Law trod has been a rich and inspiring one. “Thirteen years of exemplary law reporting is worth celebrating”, Long’et said.

Mr Terer made these remarks during Kenya Law’s annual staff conference that was held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi on Friday August 21, 2015. He spelt out the success and challenges of the financial year 2014/2015 and affirmed strategic goals for the financial year 2015/2016. He termed the organisation as an award winning organisation whose work and outputs should continue to blaze the trail in the legal information field.

Team Leaders presented their reports for the previous year as well as outlined their plans for the new financial year. Key highlights included clearance of the previous year’s backlog in case reporting, updated Laws of Kenya and the improvement in the sales.

Staff who demonstrated exemplary work performance were recognized.

The chief guest was Hon. Lady Justice R. Nambuye, a member of the Council For Law Reporting. Justice Nambuye applauded the team for the hard work. She urged the team to be innovative and always turn challenges into strengths.

“Come up with strategies to spread your wings to other areas,” she said.

Other guests included Mr. Joash Dache, CEO of the Kenya Law Reform Commission and Mrs Flora Mutua, Senior Management Consultant at the Directorate of Personel Management and who are both members of the Council For Law reporting.

Also present was Mr. Pepe Minambo, a celebrated motivational speaker who gave a talk on the factors that distinguish an organization. Pepe highlighted the core values of a leading telecom sector player and noted that simplicity, speed and trust are core parts of an organizational culture that guarantees success. He advised Kenya Law to develop an organizational culture that compliements its strength as an organization and one which will keep it focused on its mission and vision.
