RICHARD SHISIAH ERONDE (applicant) is charged in the Chief Magistrate’s Court Nairobi in Criminal Case No.924 of 2001 with stealing three cheque leafs, each said to be worth Shs.600, and in the alternative handling them. He pleaded not guilty and was released on a personal bond of Shs.500,000 with one surety of similar amount. He has now applied for variation of the bond terms.
Mr. Okello quite rightly has no objection because we are both of the considered view that the terms of this bond are unreasonably excessive and punitive.
I admit the applicant to bail pending trial and he will execute a personal bond of Shs.30,000 with one surety of a similar amount.
It is so ordered.
