DECLARATION OF DISTURBED AND DANGEROUS AREAS (TURKANA, ELGEYO MARAKWET, BARINGO, WEST POKOT, SAMBURU AND LAIKIPIA COUNTIES) EXTENSION ORDER, NO. 4 OF 2023

1. Citation

This Order may be cited as the Declaration of Disturbed and Dangerous Areas (Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Samburu and Laikipia Counties) Extension Order, 2023.

2. Application

This Extended Order shall apply in the following specified areas in Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Samburu and Laikipia Counties:
(a)TURKANA COUNTY – Turkana South, Turkana East and Loima Sub-counties.
(b)WEST POKOT COUNTY – Pokot North and Sigor Sub-counties (along the River Turkwel Escarpment).
(c)ELGEYO MARAKWET COUNTY – Marakwet East and Marakwet West Sub-counties.
(d)BARINGO COUNTY – Mukutani, Muchongoi, Bartabwa, Tiaty East and Tiaty West Sub-counties (Except in Chemolingot, Koloa, Churo, Nginyang, Ngoron, Kipnai, Loiwat, Tangulbei, Chepkalacha, Loruk, Chepilat and Plesian Shopping Centres).
(e)LAIKIPIA COUNTY – Olmoran, Ng’arua, Mukogodo and Sipili Divisions.
(f)SAMBURU COUNTY – Loroki, Baragoi, Wamba (Except Wamba Town) and Malaso Divisions.

3. Declaration Period

This Extended Order shall apply during the hours of darkness between Six O’clock in the evening and Six O’clock in the morning with effect from 17th April, 2023 and shall remain in effect for a period of thirty (30) days.

4. Restriction

Under this Extended Order, there shall be no public gatherings, processions or movement, either alone or as a group during the period of the curfew except as has been permitted in writing by the Inspector-General of the National Police Service.
