THE DECLARATION OF DISTURBED AND DANGEROUS AREAS (TURKANA, ELGEYO MARAKWET, BARINGO, WEST POKOT, SAMBURU AND LAIKIPIA COUNTIES) ORDER, 2023

1. Citation

This Order may be cited as the Declaration of disturbed and dangerous areas (Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Samburu and Laikipia Counties) Order, 2023.

2. Application

This Order shall apply in the following specified areas in Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Samburu and Laikipia Counties.
(1)TURKANA COUNTY – Turkana South, Turkana East and Loima Sub-counties
(2)WEST POKOT COUNTY – Pokot North and Sigor sub Counties (along the river Turkwel Escarpment)
(3)ELGEYO MARAKWET COUNTY – Marakwet East and Marakwet West Sub-counties
(4)BARINGO COUNTY – Mukutani, Muchongoi, Bartabwa, Tiaty East and Tiaty West Sub-counties.
(5)LAIKIPIA COUNTY - Olmoran, Ng’arua, and Mukogodo Divisions
(6)SAMBURU COUNTY - Loroki and Kirisia Divisions

3. Declaration Period

This Order shall apply with effect from 14th February, 2023 and shall remain in effect for a period of thirty (30) days.

4. Restriction

Under this Order, there shall be no public gatherings, processions or movement, either alone or as a group during the period of the curfew except as has been permitted in writing by the Inspector-General of the National Police Service.
