THE KENYA PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES WORKERS UNION (DEDUCTION OF UNION DUES) ORDER

1.This Order may be cited as the Kenya Private Universities Workers Union (Deduction of Union Dues) Order.
2.An employer who employs more than five members of the Kenya Private Universities Workers Union shall—
(a)deduct, on a monthly basis, a sum equal to one point five percent of the basic salary of an employee who is a member of the Kenya Private Universities Workers Union, in respect of the trade union dues of the member;
(b)remit, within ten days of the date of deduction, the total sums deducted under subparagraph (a) by crossed cheque or electronic funds transfer to the Kenya Private Universities Workers Union's account number 07520260009 held at the Bank of Africa Limited, Kenyatta Avenue Branch, Nairobi;
(c)commence deducting the sum deducted under subparagraph (a) within thirty days of being served with this Order by the Kenya Private Universities Workers Union;
(d)notify the Kenya Private Universities Workers Union in writing within one month of remitting the sum deducted under subparagraph (a) in accordance with subparagraph (b); and
(e)file returns with the Registrar of Trade Unions at post office box number 40326-00100, Nairobi, within one month of remitting all the sums deducted under subparagraph (a) in accordance with subparagraph (b).
3.The Kenya Private Universities Non-Teaching Staff Workers Union (Deduction of Union Dues) Order, 2014 (L.N. 161/2014) is revoked.
