THE KENYA UNION OF WATER AND SEWERAGE EMPLOYEES (DEDUCTION OF UNION DUES) ORDER

1.This Order may be cited as the Kenya Union of Water and Sewerage Employees (Deduction of Union Dues) Order.
2.An employer who employs more than five members of the Kenya Union of Water and Sewerage Employees shall—
(a)deduct, on a monthly basis—
(i)a sum equal to two percent of the basic salary; or
(ii)a sum of five hundred shillings from the basic salary, of an employee who is a member of the Kenya Union of Water and Sewerage Employees, in respect of the trade union dues of the member;
(b)remit, within ten days of the date of deduction, the total sum deducted under subparagraph (a) by crossed cheque or electronic funds transfer to Kenya Union of Water and Sewerage Employees' account number 01120201219200 held at Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited, Burn Bum Branch, Nairobi;
(c)commence deducting the sum deducted under subparagraph (a) within thirty days of being served with this Order by the Kenya Union of Water and Sewerage Employees;
(d)notify the Kenya Union of Water and Sewerage Employees in writing within one month of remitting the sum deducted under subparagraph (a) in accordance with subparagraph (b); and
(e)file returns with the Registrar of Trade Unions at post office box number 40326-00100, Nairobi within one month of remitting all the sums deducted under subparagraph (a) in accordance with subparagraph (b).
3.Gazette Notice No. 12608 of 2013 (G.N. 12608/2013) is revoked.
