THE AMALGAMATED UNION OF KENYA METAL WORKERS (DEDUCTION OF UNION DUES) ORDER

1.This Order may be cited as the Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers (Deduction of Union Dues) Order.
2.Every employer who employs any member of the Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers shall—
(a)deduct on a monthly basis, the sum specified in the Schedule in respect of union dues from the wages of an employee who has subscribed to be a member of that union;
(b)pay within thirty days of the date of deduction, the sums deducted under item 1 of the Schedule in the manner specified in the Schedule;
(c)pay within thirty days of the date of deduction, the sums deducted under item 2 of the Schedule in the manner specified in the Schedule;
(d)notify the Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers and the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (K) in writing, within one month of making both payments; and
(e)make written returns to the Registrar of Trade Unions at P.O. Box 40326-00100, Nairobi within one month of making all the payments to the Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers and the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (K).

SCHEDULE

SUMS DEDUCTED

1.A sum equal to two per cent but not more than one thousand Kenya shillings from the consolidated wage of each employee payable to the Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers by crossed cheque made payable into that Union’s account No. 010-200-202-8800 at the Standard Chartered Bank, Moi Avenue Branch, P.O Box 72585, Nairobi.
2.A sum of Kenya shillings one hundred and fifty from the wages of each employee payable to the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (K) by a crossed cheque made payable in to that Organisation’s account No. 229-741-204 at the Kenya Commercial Bank, Moi Avenue Branch, P.O Box 48400, Nairobi.
