THE PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITIES (AFRICAN ECONOMIC RESEARCH CONSORTIUM) ORDER

LEGAL NOTICE 24 OF 2000

1.This Order may be cited as the Privileges and Immunities (African Economic Research Consortium) Order.
2.The African Economic Research Consortium, in this Order referred to as "the Consortium", being an organization with which the Government of Kenya has entered into an agreement for co-operation, is declared to be an organization to which section 11 of the Act shall apply.
3.The Consortium shall have—
(a)the legal capacities of a body corporate; and
(b)the privileges and immunities specified in paragraphs 2 to 6 of Part 1 of the Fourth Schedule to the Act.
4.Any person who is an employee of the Consortium shall, while residing in Kenya and performing duties in the service of the Consortium, have the privileges and immunities specified in paragraphs 2 to 7 of Part III of the Fourth Schedule to the Act;Provided that the provisions of this paragraph shall not apply to citizens of Kenya, or to any person who is ordinarily resident in Kenya except solely for the purpose of being an employee of, or working exclusively for the Consortium.
