The denomination, inscription, form, material and characteristics of the new twenty shillings coin to be issued by the Central Bank of Kenya shall be as follows:
(a)Denomination: The denomination of the new coin shall be twenty shillings.
(b)Design Features: The coin shall incorporate the following inscriptions—
(i)On the obverse side—the Portrait of His Excellency, President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, C.G.H., M.P., President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kenya and the inscription PRESIDENT DANIEL TOROITICH ARAP MOI.
(ii)On the reverse side—the Kenya Coat of Arms and the inscriptions REPUBLIC OF KENYA: 1998 and the value in both words and numerals.
(c)Metal content:The metal alloy shall be 75 per cent copper, 25 per cent nickel at the outer ring, and 92 per cent copper, 6 per cent aluminium and 2 per cent nickel at the centre.
(d)Colours:The colours of the coin are white and yellow for the outer ring and centre piece respectively.
(e)Other features:Shape: RoundWeight: 9 gms.Diameter: 26 mm.Edge: Alternate milled/plain
The new coin will circulate alongside the present issues of Kenya currency notes and coins with effect from 1st February, 1999.
