THE QUALITY INSPECTION OF IMPORTS ORDER

1. This Order may be cited as the Quality Inspection of Imports Order.2. All imports to Kenya shall be subjected to quality inspection by the Kenya Bureau of Standards at the port of entry.3. The imported commodities will be allowed into the country upon issuance of a certificate of release by the Kenya Bureau of Standards.4. Kenya Bureau of Standards shall ensure that all products meet the requirements of Kenya Standards and Standards approved by the Bureau.5. The quality inspection fees for the imported commodities shall be 0.2 per cent of the C. & F. value for the final products and 0.1 per cent value of raw materials and intermediate goods and shall be payable before the issuance of the certificate of release.6. The Cabinet Secretary may on the recommendation of the Nation Standards Council, exempt any imports from the provisions of this Order where he is satisfied that it is in the national interest to do so.7. Legal Notice No. 227 of 1995, is revoked.
