1.This order may be cited as the Revision of the Laws (No. 2) Order, 1983.
2.The Thirteenth Annual Supplement to the Laws of Kenya prepared under section 7 of the Act shall come into force on the 30th January, 1984.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE OF NEW SUPPLEMENT

1.(1) The thirteenth (1983) annual supplement comprises the following booklets which should be inserted in appropriate sequence in the volumes of the Laws—
(a)Chapters 3 and 474, which are incorporated in the Laws of Kenya for the first time;
(b)35 new revised editions, namely the Constitution and Chapter Nos. 2, 7, 8, 75, 130, 131, 214, 231, 237, 244, 245, 246, 247, 251, 253, 295, 315, 320, 325, 331, 332, 360, 378, 380, 389, 392, 409, 445, 479, 489, 498, 512, 523 and 527;
(c)a new revised accumulative index containing a complete noter-up of the Laws of Kenya as at 1st January, 1983, and, including a supplement to the chronological table;
(d)a new revised table of contents including a separate table of omitted Acts.
(2)All of the new revised editions referred to in subparagraph (1) are up to date as at 1st January, 1983, save for Chapter 75 (the Criminal Procedure Code) which for general convenience contains amendments made in the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendment) Act, (No. 11 of 1983), and thus is up to date as at 31st December, 1983.
2.(1) Also supplied as part of the thirteenth annual supplement are—
(a)two extra blue loose leaf binders;
(b)a set of new title cards to be inserted into the spines of each blue binder in place of those inserted at present.
(2)Each set of the Laws of Kenya will thus henceforward contain fifteen volumes of blue binders each containing the various laws indicated on the spine after insertion of the new title cards.
3.As the new booklets are inserted into the volumes the following booklets should be removed and stored for future reference—
(a)the Constitution and Chapter Nos. 2, 7, 8, 75, 130, 131, 214, 231, 237, 244, 245, 246, 247, 251, 253, 295, 315, 320, 325, 331, 332, 360, 378, 380, 389, 392, 409, 479, 489, 498, 512, 523 and 527 which have been newly revised;
(b)Chapter No. 517 which has been newly revised and re-published with a new chapter number.
(c)the 1982 editions of the table of contents and index.
4.The Government Printer will supply the 1983 supplement complete with extra binders and new title cards at a total cost of Sh. 1,261.50.
5.The opportunity should also be taken when inserting and extracting booklets to check whether each set of the laws is up to date. This can be done in the following manner—
(a)check that the contents of the volumes (now fifteen) tally with the 1983 edition of the table of contents supplied as part of the 1983 supplement (the actual chapters in each individual volume should correspond with the chapter numbers specified on the new title cards, also supplied as part of the 1983 supplement);
(b)any chapters not specified in the 1983 edition of the table of contents will be found to contain laws which have been repealed or replaced, have become spent or have been republished under a new chapter number, and should accordingly be removed from the volumes;
(c)once the chapters have been checked against the table of contents reference should be made to the index to check that each chapter is the latest, and therefore the current, edition; the year of last revision is printed in the third column of Part I of the index.
6.Where chapters are found to be missing, or to be outdated editions, replacements should be ordered from the Government Printer.
