1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Appellate Jurisdiction Act.2. Interpretation
In this Act—"judgment" includes decree, order, sentence and decision;"the Court of Appeal" means the Court of Appeal established by section 64 (1) of the Constitution;"the Court of Appeal Rules" means the Court of Appeal for East Africa Rules, 1972 (L.N. 199/1972), as amended up to and in force on 1st June, 1977;"the Old Court of Appeal" means the Court of Appeal for East Africa, referred to in section 17 of the Treaty for East African Co-operation Act (Cap. 4), or any Court replaced by that Court.3. Any judgment of the Court of Appeal given in exercise of its jurisdiction under this Act may be executed and enforced as if it were a judgment of the High Court.5. Rules
6. Power of High Court to admit to bail or postpone fine
The High Court may, if it thinks fit, pending the determination of an appeal from the High Court to the Court of Appeal—7. Power of High Court to extend time
The High Court may extend the time for giving notice of intention to appeal from a judgment of the High Court or for making an application for leave to appeal or for a certificate that the case is fit for appeal, notwithstanding that the time for giving such notice or making such appeal may have already expired:Provided that in the case of a sentence of death no extension of time shall be granted after the issue of the warrant for the execution of that sentence.8. Transitional provisions
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 3 of this Act and the replacement of the old Court of Appeal—9. Repeal of Cap. 9
